Vintage Metropolitan Museum Art French Ceramic Cat Figurine Hand Painted

Wonderful vintage ceramic cat figurine produced for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and made in France. This wonderfully whimsical cat features a soft creamy white glaze with hand-painted blue, golden yellow and brown details, including circular floral motifs, striped accents and an expressive painted face.

Dimensions: 6.25" L x 4.25" H
The substantial crouching cat form has openings at both the top of the head and mouth, which appear to be intentional elements of the original design. The underside is marked “France.” Beautifully quirky and full of character, it has just the right mix of folk art charm and collected European style.

Vintage condition with overall crazing to the glaze and light age-related surface wear. No major chips or cracks noted. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description.
